Bowenwork provides gentle and profoundly effective signals to the Brain for healing and recovery through the stimulation of special receptors in the tendons, muscles and ligaments of the body. These stimuli can result in deep relaxation, resetting of muscular tension and range of motion, lymph drainage, inflammation reduction and pain relief.
About Bowen Therapy Ottawa
Our holistic approach involves listening to the body’s innate intelligence, and applying techniques based on what the body needs to restore balance and remove blocks to healing.
At Bowen Therapy Ottawa, Lyn McCuaig practices Bowtech® ~ the original Bowen technique that differs from massage, reflexology and other body manipulations as it addresses the body as a whole. Originating in Australia, in the 1950’s by the late Tom Bowen it is now practiced in over 30 countries.
Bowtech® ~ the original Bowen Technique involves very gentle but direct manipulation of the muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments, joints, and nerves.
During the session there are many pauses between each set of moves, allowing the body to respond to and integrate the moves. These pauses allow the nervous system to adjust the tension level in the muscles, preparing the body for the next set of moves. Often during the sessions clients quickly drop into deep relaxation or fall asleep.
As a Bowtech® practitioner and registered holistic nutritionist Lyn offers Bowenwork therapy and nutritional consults combined or as separate holistic approaches to wellness.
